This table top buffalo features a familiar scene in Custer State Park, Ponderosa Pine trees and the animals that inhabit the forest. Featuring a close up of wolves, visions of elk, mountain lion, and of course, buffalo.
Alan displayed his artistic ability at a very early age and through his school years. The past 20 years have been spent developing his skills in fine art. Mostly a self-taught artist, in his late teens Alan studied through a correspondence course. In later years an artist in residence came to his hometown, adding much to spark a serious interest in Alan.
Alan’s paintings are realistic and detailed featuring wildlife landscapes, still life, and wild flowers. His preferred medium is watercolor or acrylic. He sells original work, prints, and greeting cards. His latest venture is bronze animal sculptures. His works are now displayed at Prairie Edge Gallery and the Alex Johnson Mercantile in Rapid City.
Alan and his wife were married in 1947. They have four sons and one daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They now reside in the Black Hills.
