The American Buffalo is a mainstay of America’s prairie lands and I have often imagined what life might look like from their perspective as they move from place to place in their search of food, mates, or to escape from predators. In “Buffalo Seasons”, I have depicted my buffalo as he heads South, in search of warmer weather; with Spring and Summer in his future and Fall and Winter behind him.
Though varied subject matter has always interested Sisa as an artist, landscapes and wildlife are strong inspirations in her painting. Sisa grew up and lived most of her life in and near big cities on both coasts. She relocated to Colorado ten years ago and has become immersed in the culture and beauty of the Rocky Mountains and the prairie.
Sisa has been greatly influenced by many teachers on both coasts and at Colorado State University where she studied Studio Art. She has spent a lifetime studying the masters and is influenced by classical artists, the impressionists and contemporary artists.
Sisa is busy in shows, giving college lectures, jurying shows and as a member of the Artists’ Association of Northern Colorado. She is truly grateful for her creative energies and to her collectors and mentors who have encouraged her work.
