Before Native Americans witnessed the westward expansion of the frontier they relied on the vast herds of buffalo that roamed the Great Plains for most of their basic needs. Food, shelter, and clothing as well as a spiritual connection made the Plains Indians truly dependent on Tatanka. Ray’s buffalo features a pained robe draped across it’s back with decorated images of the good times the Plains Indians surely enjoyed. A beaded mask, similar to the horse masks used by many tribes, adorns the buffalo’s face, signifying a strong heart and protection to those who respect his existence.
Raymond is a Colorado native and his love for the outdoors is expressed in his work. At an early age, he was encouraged by instructors to pursue his art and to consider it a career course, but other responsibilities put his art on hold. It wasn’t until retirement that Raymond finally found the time he always cherished to pursue his passion and the challenges of the art world. Raymond works in both water color and acrylic mediums and competes in several art shows throughout Northern Colorado and Wyoming.
Raymond and his wife live in Windsor, CO close to the abundant wonders of the mountains and the plains.
