The White Buffalo – so very rare – carried the mystery and power of the Spirit world.  Some Holy men used white robes in their medical curing rituals, and sometimes were worn into battle by chiefs – believing it would shield them from all harm.  When a white buffalo hide was owned, it was held in high esteem and often given as a gift to important leaders.

Looking closely, a vision of White Buffalo Calf Maiden appears in the stream. It is told she first appeared to the Teton Sioux around AD 1200-1500 and delivered the Holy Sacred Pipe Bundle from Wakan -Tanka, from God. There were several appearances from her over centuries. Some accounts describe her as vanishing off into the distance as a white buffalo calf; thus leading to the belief of the Spiritual Powers of the White Buffalo.
